DEUS EX: MANKIND DIVIDED Officially Revealed

Though Square Enix wasn’t set to reveal it’s newest title until tomorrow at the end of their bizarre interactive Twitch stream they began hosting yesterday, our guess that it was going to be the next Deus Ex game has been officially confirmed by Game Informer. Yes, this is exactly the announcement we asked for.

According to the site, the game will be set in 2029, which is approximately two years after the events in Deus Ex: Human Revolution concluded. Amidst the havoc wrought by the explosive ending of the series’ last entry, we see Adam Jensen joining forces “with an Interpol-funded task force aiming to hunt down and capture augmented terrorists in a world that now hates and fears transhumans.”

In the next issue of Game Informer–which boasts a badass image of Adam Jensen–we’ll find out more about how mankind grew to hate transhumans, get a closer look at some of the protagonists new augmentations to improve the combat, and how it will be as open-ended as ever.

Prior to the announcement, rumors of the game were already rocking NeoGAF where members relayed images they discovered on a Russian website. The leaked screenshots show our favorite augmented protagonist (Editor’s note: What about JC Denton?) taking cover and shooting at enemies. It also shows the ability to augment weapons with silencers, laser sights, scopes, and firing patterns. For a better look at the images that were leaked, check out the gallery below.

Square Enix has yet to comment on the announcement and is still hosting their stream over on the “Can’t Kill Progress” Twitch channel. Though it doesn’t have a release date yet, we do know that it is headed to PS4, Xbox One and PC.
