DEADPOOL Is a Hufflepuff—and It’s Canon!

Just because you’re a superhero who kicks serious behind doesn’t mean you don’t have a love of reading. This is certainly true of Deadpool, who’s a devoted fan of J.K. Rowling. In fact, a Reddit user named kittenghost1 just figured out which Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry everyone’s favorite foul-mouthed superhero would be sorted into and shared it with the Harry Potter community.

kittenghost1 dug up a visual clue from a Deadpool flashback that suggests which house Wade Wilson truly belongs to. In the comic, we see a costumed Wade standing outside a bookstore, waiting to buy Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince along with a group of children. He, like many of you, even went so far as to stay off the Internet to avoid spoilers. Unfortunately, a total jerk drives by and totally wrecks the ending for Deadpool, who is draped proudly in his Hufflepuff robes.

Deadpool does not exact violent vengeance. He simply screams, “Noooooooo!”

One user named AR101 said this was inspired by a video made by a total jerk who is going straight to hell who did the same thing at an actual bookstore in Texas. We included it below but you might not want to watch. It’s just so freaking mean! This guy is definitely Slytherin! (Note: Just kidding. We do not condemn Slytherins here. We love Severus, too.)

Now, you may be saying to yourself, “Self, how could Deadpool be a Hufflepuff? They’re known for loyalty, dedication, patience, and friendliness. Wait, Self! You know, he’s definitely loyal. Look at him with Vanessa in the film! He’s dedicated to butt-kicking. He patiently stalks his enemies and, well, Self, he’s certainly friendly!” Well, you’re right. Deadpool as a Hufflepuff is not only on point—it’s canon!

Nick Filardi, who was the colorist on that issue has confirmed that Wade Wilson was intentionally drawn in Hufflepuff garb. He posted this:

When he was asked about why he originally chose Gryffindor, he said that Deadpool was brave. He also said you can ask him questions on his Twitter @Nickfil. Oh, in case you were wondering what happened to the guys who ruined the story for our not-so-fair hero? Broken nose. I’d say he got off light.

So, Hufflepuffs, are you cool with Deadpool sharing the common room with you? Tweet me/us @JennaBusch/@Nerdist and let us know your thoughts. We apologize in advance for the wormhole you’re about to fall down reading the thread.
