DEADPOOL Creator Rob Liefeld on How The X-FORCE Movie Fits in the MCU

With Once Upon a Deadpool hitting theaters this week, audiences around the world can once again see X-Force assemble for the very first time. But as anyone who has seen Deadpool 2 in one of its myriad iterations can tell you–spoiler alert–things don’t go so well for everyone’s favorite black ops band of mutant mercenaries. Nonetheless, rumors of X-Force’s death may be greatly exaggerated. Thanks to Disney acquiring Fox’s many assets and Marvel’s merry mutants, the future for X-Force is looking brighter than ever according to Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld.

In advance of the release of Once Upon a Deadpool, Liefeld stopped by our offices and sat down with Markeia McCarty to talk about all things Wade Wilson. Obviously, the future of the Merc with a Mouth is in question, but as we learned in Deadpool 2, he’s been looking for a team all along. With an X-Force movie already in the works, Liefeld revealed exactly how the film could fit into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and what the future might hold for these characters. Given the exorbitant amount of money that the Deadpool franchise has made at the box office, it feels like an inevitability that they’ll work their way into Marvel’s cinematic sandbox.

Once Upon a Deadpool is in theaters now. Be sure to watch our other interview with Rob Liefeld about how Deadpool could slice and dice his way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe too.

What do you want to see from the X-Force movie? Who would be in your ultimate X-Force lineup? Let us know in the comments below.
