Holy moly! We’re just going to call it now and say that Josh Brolin’s Cable is going to be one of the most badass characters in recent superhero cinema! How do we know? Well, Ryan “Deadpool” Reynolds recently tweeted out this picture.
We all have that one, grumpy, heavily armed Uncle from the future. #PremiumCABLE #JoshBrolin pic.twitter.com/JV3yBIIPQH

And then Deadpool and Cable co-creator Rob Liefeld posted this snapshot on Instagram.
So if the Techno-Organic Virus can do that to Brandon from The Goonies, then sign us up! Brolin will be playing the time-traveling and gun-toting Nathan “Cable” Summers in the upcoming Deadpool 2, which is set for a June 2018 release. We’ve seen progress reports of Brolin’s transformation in the form of Instagram pictures and videos over the last few months, but even those couldn’t prepare us for how awesome Cable actually looks. That said, it shouldn’t surprise us all that much, considering how well the folks behind the Deadpool film honored the source comic book material.
While the details for Deadpool 2 are still under wraps, one can safely assume that Cable and Mr. Pool shan’t be getting along all that well in the film since, even when they work together in the comics, the two usually endure a strained relationship. The picture Reynolds tweeted has Cable looking a bit more menacing than heroic, which suits the conflict we’re expecting from the two characters for at least part of the next film.
What do you think of Brolin as Cable? Have you sent the picture to all your nay-saying friends yet? Let’s discuss in the comments below!
