DEADPOOL 2 Reveals Potential Domino Actresses

DEADPOOL 2 Reveals Potential Domino Actresses

The sequel to this year’s unexpected mega-hit Deadpool is expected to start production fairly soon, and along with fan favorite character Cable already announced to make an appearance, it seems that so too will his deadly albino ally, the female mercenary named Domino. All three characters were created by artist Rob Liefeld in the early ’90s run of New Mutants, which eventually morphed into X-Force.

According to a report over at Collider, director Tim Miller and the film’s producers are now looking toward casting a key female role. Sources are saying that testing has already begun, and that the “key female role” is indeed Domino. The actresses in consideration include Lizzy Caplan (Masters of Sex), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (10 Cloverfield Lane), Sienna Miller (American Sniper)  Mackenzie Davis (Halt and Catch Fire), Ruby Rose (Orange Is the New Black), Eve Hewson (The Knick), and Kelly Rohrbach (Baywatch).

In the Marvel Comics, Domino was the result of a “top-secret government breeding program intended to develop the perfect weapon” (there are apparently a lot of these in the Marvel Universe), which resulted in having “luck” powers, sort of related to telekinesis. A character, who looked like Domino in New Mutants, vol. 1 #98 in 1991, was revealed as a shape shifter named Copycat. The real Domino made her first actual appearance on the last page of X-Force #11 in 1992. She then appeared in all manner of X-Men titles after that over the years, and then had a prominent role in the first Wolverine-led X-Force title starting in 2008.

It’s unknown how Domino will factor into the next film, but she has often been used as Cable’s oldest friend and confidant, one of the few people he knows he can trust (although she did try to kill him once, because comics). In the current comics, Domino is a part of Deadpool’s team, the Mercs for Money, so it’s possible the producers might have her more as Wade Wilson’s close friend instead of Cable’s. The X-films are known for playing fast and loose with the comics anyway, Domino could be another example of that. Hopefully, Domino will be more well developed and have more to do than Psylocke did in X-Men: Apocalypse.

Deadpool 2, starring Ryan Reynolds, is set to start production early next year for a 2018 release.

What do you think of these potential casting choices for the part of Domino? Is there another actress you’d rather see in the role not on the list? Let us know down below in the comments.
