To celebrate legendary comic book writer and artist Jack Kirby‘s 100-year legacy, earlier this year DCÂ announced a now critically acclaimed revival of Mister Miracle and one-shots featuring Kirby’s other Fourth World characters. Now, another Kirby creation, The Demon, is getting its due with a new miniseries this fall. It’s the perfect excuse to share one of our all-time favorite comic book quotes: “Gone, gone the form of man, Rise the demon Etrigan!”
Via DC’s official site, writer Andrew Constant and artist Brad Walker are the creative team for The Demon: Hell is Earth, a new six-issue miniseries that catches up to Etrigan’s human host, Jason Blood. It seems that Blood has attempted to retire from fighting evil by retreating to Death Valley, California. But Blood can’t escape evil’s grasp when a nuclear bomb erupts in the desert and creates a rift that literally brings Hell to Earth.
Etrigan may be a demon, but he’s also quite good at destroying other demons. And as you can see in the preview page below, Blood will be forced to unleash his darker half to hold back the demonic horde.
You can see an additional preview page and the cover in our gallery below. DC also passed along the description of the first issue:
Jason Blood and Etrigan: the best of enemies, destined to spend eternity bound together. When a haunting vision leads Jason to Death Valley, a supernatural weapon is unleashed, radically transforming not only the land, but also Bloodâ¦and the Demon. The worst, though, is yet to come, as hell begins to make its way into our world.
The Demon: Hell on Earth #1 will be released on November 15.
