David S. Pumpkins Invades THE SHINING and Other Classic Horror Movies

If there were any questions about who holds the title for scariest Halloween monster, they have been answered. Now we know that no one fills us with as much terror as the man with the jack-o’-lantern suit and the dancing skeleton sidekicks: David S. Pumpkins. And we aren’t just talking about his terrifying appearance in the Saturday Night Live sketch “Haunted Elevator,” because he can turn any horror movie into something much more horrifying.

The video, which we found via Comic Book Resources, was created by BuzzFeed’s Jesse McLaren, who placed that horrible smiling visage of Mr. Pumpkins in a series of classic horror movies, including Halloween, Insidious, Scream, The Grudge, and The Ring. However, our favorite of these instances is when young Danny Torrance found not only David S. Pumpkins haunting the Overlook Hotel in The Shining, but his dancing skeletons as well. And we thought that place was creepy before…

It hasn’t even been a full week since we all met David S. Pumpkins on SNL, and yet he already feels like a holiday staple. If you still haven’t seen the original sketch, starring Tom Hanks as the most unlikely of Halloween monsters, or you just need to watch it for the 50th time, you can see it right here. Forget 100 floors of frights, we’ll gladly take 100 more horror movies starring David S. Pumpkins, because there is no question: he scares the hell out of us.

Well, not really, but he sure is funny.
