Ever since it was announced on Easter Sunday that David Lynch would no longer be directing the Twin Peaks revival for Showtime, hardcore fans have been in an absolute tizzy. What would a Twin Peaks revival even look like without it’s co-creator? Would the cast even do the show without him? Most of the actors took a stand with their beloved director, saying “No Lynch, No Peaks,” and fans on Twitter and other social media platforms created the #savetwinpeaks hashtag, its message spreading around like wildfire for over a month. It was really starting to look like a world where Full House and Coach would be revived but Twin Peaks would be left in the dust.

Well, in a move rarely seen, Showtime listened, as it was announced Friday via David Lynch’s Twitter, that he has returned to the Twin Peaks revival, along with co-creator Mark Frost.

In fact, the news gets even better; in a follow up statement, Showtime president David Nevins announced “This damn fine cup of coffee from Mark and David tastes more delicious than ever, totally worth the extra brewing time and the cup is even bigger than we expected. David will direct the whole thing which will total more than the originally announced nine hours. Pre production starts now!”

Whether or not Peaks makes it on the air for its original 2016 premiere is up in the air, but after waiting twenty five years for a continuation, what’s another year? I say it’s time to get out that coffee and cherry pie and celebrate.
