David Duchovny Hints at Return of Agent Denise Bryson on TWIN PEAKS

Production for David Lynch and Mark Frost’s Twin Peaks revival is well underway in Washington state, and although several different cast members have been spotted on location—with the exception of Kyle MacLachlan, who Showtime announced was returning as Special Agent Dale Cooper earlier this year—there have been zero official cast announcements for anyone else. Lynch and Frost want even the identities of the returning characters to be part of the mystery it would seem. But having said that, we live in the age where everyone has a camera in their phone, so big names joining the cast (like Amanda Seyfried and Peter Sarsgaard for example) have been hard to keep under wraps when doing location shooting.

Another big name who more or less spilled the beans on their return? None other than David Duchovny‘s DEA agent Denise Bryson. Yes, you read that correctly; Duchovny played a transgender agent on the original Twin Peaks for a three episode stint way back in 1990, a good three years before he played another government agent on the X-Files. It was actually while promoting the X-Files revival at this past weekend’s New York Comic Con that Duchovny kind of spilled the beans, saying, “There is a chance I’ll show up on Twin Peaks. That’s all I can say. I’ve been frightened into silence. Yeah, I’ll shave my legs.”

“Firightened into silence” is more or less the reaction most former Twin Peaks cast members have when asked by fans at conventions or on social media about a possible return to the show. But it’s doubtful Lynch, Frost, and Showtime would be “frightening them into silence” and making them sign NDAs if they weren’t involved in the new series somehow. So while Duchovny’s comments can’t be taken as a direct confirmation, it’s a good bet that he’ll be putting on the pantyhose and stylish pumps of Denise Bryson one more time.
