Learn How to Make THE DARK CRYSTAL Costumes from The Jim Henson Company (Exclusive)

Halloween is approaching. We’ve been celebrating Nerdoween all of October, but if you’re working on costume plans, now’s the time to get in gear and at least start your projects. Luckily for you, Jim Henson’s Creature Shop is here to help. We’re happy to exclusively debut their tutorials for putting together costumes from The Dark Crystal.

Melissa Doss and Robert Bennett, contestants on Jim Henson’s Creature Shop Challenge, have all the expertise you need to transform yourself into either the Skeksis Chamberlain, SkekSil, or the Gelfling Kira. I know which one I would choose–spoilers: it’s Kira. Look at her gorgeous costume!

And the Chamberlain:

Don’t be intimidated by the idea of making these costumes. Doss and Bennett have adapted the designs in such a way that they don’t involve sculpting and casting prosthetic masks. They use makeup and relatively easy to find fabrics and supplies to bring the characters to life, and they go over each and every step. I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling inspired.

So inspired, in fact, that we’re giving away a Dark Crystal prize pack! Simply click here to tweet and enter to win the below:

Are you more of a Skeksis or a Gelfling? Head to the comments and let me know which of these costumes you’ll be making.
