DAREDEVIL’s Intro Is Even Better When Pixelated

Marvel‘s Daredevil series on Netflix has arguably one of the coolest opening sequences on TV right now. The slow reveals of Hell’s Kitchen, religious images, and Daredevil himself by the pouring of virtual blood totally set the tone for the series. Season two recently premiered and blew everyone away with the addition of The Punisher and Elektra. Today, we have a super cool video for you from YouTube designers doisDI Desenhando, showing the intro with 8/16 bit animation. (It’s described in the video notes as both.) In addition, the theme song is done in midi, so it sounds like you’re about to play a Daredevil game on your Atari 2600! (Don’t know what that is? Go ask your mom.)

According to their YouTube page (and this was translated from Portuguese), these guys are designers of something called “two i.d.” These guys have some other pretty cool 8/16 bit intros, including one for Steven Universe, and The Legend of Korra. They’ve also got some Illustrator and Photoshop videos and ones based around video games. And you can upload your own speedpaint video to their site via [email protected].

So, what do you think of the pixelated intro for Daredevil? Does it make you want to create a 16-bit Daredevil app game so you can make zillions and zillions of dollars? Does the regular intro remind you of the intro for Black Sails? We’ve included it for you below in case you want to compare. Tweet me/us @JennaBusch/@Nerdist and let us know what you think. We’d love to hear your opinion of this season, Elektra and The Punisher as well! (No spoilers though. Believe it or not, there are some people out there who didn’t take three days off of work to watch the entire thing.)
