Marvelâs Man Without Fear is coming back early this year, and it may be the latest chapter in the ongoing competition between Marvel and DC Comics. A new report from ComicBook.com suggests Netflix will premiere every episode of Daredevil Season 2 on Friday, March 25. That also happens to be the date Warner Bros. is launching the much anticipated Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. So, comic book fans are likely to have a very good weekend of live-action Marvel and DC content.
But the choice to bring out Daredevilâs second season on the exact same date as Warner Bros.’ biggest superhero movie of the year is…interesting. Marvel Studios and Warner Bros. played chicken with the release dates of Batman v. Superman and Captain America: Civil War before Warner Bros. ultimately decided to move its film to earlier in the year. Daredevil Season 2 isn’t likely to significantly impact the box office performance of Batman v. Superman. However, it does seem like an interesting play to pit Ben Affleck’s last super roleâDaredevilâagainst his most recent.
Daredevil Season 2 offers its own superhero showdown, with Daredevil (Charlie Cox) taking on the Punisher, as played by Jon Bernthal, the former star of The Walking Dead. Ãlodie Yung is also joining the series this season as the fan-favorite assassin, Elektra. Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, and Rosario Dawson will return for Daredevilâs new season, with Scott Glenn also slated to reprise his role as Stick in multiple episodes.
Marvelâs other Netflix series for 2016 is Luke Cage, which doesnât currently have a release date. But if Luke Cage ends up coming out on August 5, 2016 against the Suicide Squad movie, then Marvel and Netflix are just being cheeky with their competition.
