Emilia Clarke Hints at Romance Between Daenerys and Jon on GAME OF THRONES

Halt! This here post is dark and full of spoilers for season seven of Game of Thrones. If you’re not caught up, turn away and head back to the Citadel to complete your homework.

You know that awkward feeling when you start rooting for Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow to get together, but then remember his lineage (which recently got an upgrade) and that a relationship between the duo would be problematic to say the least. And then you try to rationalize with thoughts like “well, at least they’re not brother and sister like Jaime and Cersei” or “hey, incest isn’t anything new for the Targaryens.” Yeah. This behind-the-scenes video from HBO about moments between Daenerys, Jon, and Jorah Mormont during “Eastwatch” is going to fan all those flames.

Watch:

Dany and Jon have been sharing Moments, as I’ll call them, since he showed her the markings (not a euphemism) in the caves on Dragonstone. Co-showrunner David Benioff mentioned that scene in the Inside the Episode short for “The Spoils of War.” He said on top of the power struggle, they’re wrestling with something else: “To make it all even more complicated, they’re starting to be attracted to each other.”

Their chemistry has been slowly but surely ratcheting upwards. Daenerys definitely took notice of the way Jon faced Drogon with bravery, like Kit Harington says in the video. Jon didn’t back down from the creature. Emilia Clarke notes it’s an attractive quality to Dany, and when Jorah returns in the middle of this Dany and Jon Moment, there’s a sense that he’s interrupting something. Again with the awkward feeling, right?

Clarke confirms Dany has a certain kind of inclination towards Jon. Who knows if anything more will come of it? They have a lot of problems and undead to handle in Westeros.

Did you see sparks between Dany and Jon this week? Do you think they’ll end up together? Work out your emotions on this ‘ship in the comments.
