Dancing Stormtroopers on BRITAIN’S GOT TALENT

And once again, Stormtroopers fail to hit their primary target. In this instance, though, that’s not the worst thing in the world: Boogie Storm, the dancing Stormtrooper group fast-tracked by Simon Cowell into the finals of Britain’s Got Talent, won third place…and more importantly, nerdy hearts worldwide.

For their latest performance they not only danced, but Dirty Danced, twerked, flipped, vogued, strutted, and even made use of umbrellas, because after all, this is England and manners maketh man. In using songs like “It’s Raining Men” and “I’m Coming Out,” they even gave several nods to LGBT empowerment, which is not what you’d expect from faceless drones of an evil Empire. (Your move, Star Wars movies.)

Look, it would be all too ironic if Stormtroopers actually won the thing. They’re not used to it (if you had dancing Wookiees, that would be an entirely different matter, potentially leaving Cowell armless). And via Entertainment Weekly, we learn that “Boogie Storm ultimately finished third in the talent competition. Viewers chose soldier and magician Richard Jones as the winner, with singer Wayne Woodward as the runner-up.” That’s a whole lot more honorable and face-saving than losing to teddy bears with slingshots. Though it also suggests we have not done a good enough job persuading everyone in Britain to love Star Wars as much as we do. Let’s get on that, UK readers.

We don’t know what Boogie Storm has in mind next, but Biker Scouts dancing with actual bicycles needs to be a thing they consider.

What kind of dances would you like to see the Empire do next? All suggestions are welcome below.
