Daenerys and Maleficent Go Head to Head in a Princess Rap Battle

Princesses are usually known for being prim and proper. They don’t break the rules, they don’t curse, and they certainly don’t engage in rap battles with colorful language — not unless they’re part of Whitney Avalon’s Princess Rap Battle series. The videos pit royalty against royalty with snappy lyrics, biting insults, and some cursing (yeah, you might not want to play this at the office). It’s fabulous.

The latest hip-hop musical match puts Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones opposite of Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty and Maleficent. This is the first hero versus villain bout, and as an added bonus, there’s a whole animated segment.

Avalon stars as Maleficent while none other than Yvonne Strahovski (Chuck) plays the Mother of Dragons. Both women are fierce and get solid jabs in, but Daenerys has better sidekicks with Grey Worm and Missandei (sorry/not sorry, Diaval). Also, Daenerys sort of can’t be set on fire and the Targaryen sigil is a dragon so Maleficent’s biggest threat doesn’t impress her much. Then again, nothing really impresses Daenerys because she’s a Khaleesi and has five thousand other titles and three dragons. The end.

As with the other battles in the series (such as Cinderella vs. Belle and Galadriel vs. Leia!), Avalon writes the song and produces and performs. She could basically kick the butts of most of the princesses in the series. Steve Gossett shares writing and producing duties and also directs and edits.
