Da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man Makes for a Very Limber Action Figure

In a week that sees a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie opening, let us all take a moment to appreciate the original Leonardo, who was able to both lead and do machines. He was also a master artist, of course, and among many great designs is known for creating Vitruvian Man, a drawing/diagram of a human being considered to have perfect proportions.

Now, let us consider something that has probably never occurred to you: what if this remarkable drawing were to somehow come to life and attack you? It’s a possibility your other action figures may now have to consider, as Figma has brought him into three, fully articulated dimensions like some kind of stone Dr. Octopus. And since he’s eight heads tall, that’s kind of fitting.

Vitruvian Man joins the Thinker, Venus De Milo (who gets to have arms in plastic form!), and fellow Ninja Turtle namesake Michelangelo’s David in Figma‘s collection of classic sculptures turned into action figures. And yes, he is anatomically accurate under there, which is unusual for a male figure–Chinese toy factories generally refuse to sculpt full-on male nudity, but the excuse of art seems to have worked wonders. (As such, the links to some of these figures might be considered NSFW.)

What famous statues or drawings would you like to see in toy form? Lady Liberty seems like a gimme, especially to display with Ghostbusters. I’m thinking a Mona Lisa should be next, though, so you can finally stage a full-on smackdown for the title of greatest da Vinci creation. And when it comes to smacking, my money’s on the dude with four hands.

Who or what would you have Figma tackle next? Have your say in comments.
