Cyclops, Storm, & Jean Grey Set To Return For X-MEN: APOCALYPSE

Although Bryan Singer recently confirmed that X-Men: Apocalypse would be set in the 1980s, just who the mutants would consist of, outside the returning First Class cast members of Charles Xavier (James McAvoy), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), and Magneto (Michael Fassbender), has remained something of a question mark. It’s been speculated that the characters of Cyclops, Storm, and Jean Grey, obviously in younger teenage incarnations, would be introduced in this movie, and now Singer has seemingly confirmed it. In talking to Sci-Fi Now magazine (via Comic Book Movie) when asked if due to the time period in which the movie takes place, we would be introduced to those three key X-Men in recast roles, Singer said, “Yeah, exactly. My next goal is how did the X-Men come together? That story hasn’t been told yet, so Days of Future Past is the inbetweenquel; It’s in between the birth of that relationship with Charles and Erik and the formation of the X-Men.”

So what else could this mean for X-men: Apocalypse with those three key X-Men back in the picture? We could finally see proper character development and screentime for Scott Summers, a/k/a Cyclops, for starters. With Apocalypse as the heavy, and Cyclops involved, could Mr. Sinister be far behind? Just speculatin’. We could see Jean Grey at true Phoenix level power, maybe before Charles Xavier put the mental blocks to prevent the Phoenix from taking over. And most importantly, we could see someone finally do the character of Storm justice. (I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…Lupita Nyong’o was born to play ’80s Mohawk Ororo Munroe. Make it happen, Fox.) Singer has already hinted that we’d also see a younger Nightcrawler and Gambit as well.

There are two other major questions hanging over X-Men:Apocalypse now: first, being whether or not Hugh Jackman will return in any capacity as Wolverine. He has recently said that he is “99.9 % sure” that Wolverine 3 is going to be his last go-round as Logan, but X-Men: Apocalypse comes out the year before, so it’s hardly out of the question. And second, will Bryan Singer return as director as intended, or will his mountain of recent legal troubles force him to pass? And how much of what he’s been developing for this movie stay if he’s replaced? This movie already has a release date set in two years’ time, so a decision is going to have to be made soon on that front.

Halle Berry did do the role of Storm with justice, you jackass.  When she was being directed by Brett Ratner and not that idiot Singer, who seems incapable of being a good director for her.

  2. Allen says:

I am a huge storm fan and have been for over a decade. Lupita Nyong’o is too dark to play Storm. I hate when white people just throw in any black person to play a role like we all look the same. Storm is of lighter complexion. She has never been drawn pitch black so why throw in a pitch black person to play Storm. How about we make Cyclops Chinese in this one… Respect the character!

  3. Andrean says:

I think Gugu Mbatha-Raw would be excellent as Storm! 😀

  4. Mel says:

As far as we love wolverine, but please give more scene’s to other mutants. Out of 7 x men movie wolverine gets more scene and even solo movie. It’s not wolverine movie it’s x men. There are allot of bad ass character in the team but why can’t they give them more scenes

  5. Anita says:

How about we include Rogue and make amends for how terrible she was written in the first three movies?

  6. Johnnyjlow says:

They could keep havok involved and he could bring in his brother cyclops.  What if they make beast & mystique the parents of nightcrawler instead of azazel! Cable & sinister must be involved. Is x-force happening before apocalypse?

  7. Doug Peters says:

So with this can they please just make X3 never taken place….retcon the crap outta that…

  8. sickboy says:

Teenage jean grey and scott summers, with wolverine lurking about?  Actually sounds like a singer thing

  9. Hovitos says:

If X-Men Origins: Wolverine is canon, and Gambit appeared at Three Mile Island… how are they going to make a “younger” Gambit appear in the 80’s?  Ret-Con?

  10. DJ Kento says:

I would love to see Lupita Nyong’o play Storm! I mean she’s probably attached to Star Wars and might be too busy, but I still think she’d be great.

Boy, 90s comic art was aaaaatrocious. But we ate it up.

    • ben says:

Shut up Jim Lee’s X-Men was awesome.

Rob Liefeld’s on the other hand…

      • bastien says:

Characters made up of 75% breasts, hips, and hair bending at impossible/improbably angles with little to no sense of perspective is not awesome, it’s ridiculous. And that’s just the male characters.

        • RobW says:

Because the absolute garbage that’s churned out today is better, right?  the industries standards are so bad right now…

    • Michael Thompson says:

Whilce Portacio was extremely overrated.  Storm’s triangle head above is just one glaring example.

Halle Berry finally out of the picture! Someone new playing Storm?! yesyesyesyes!
