CW Developing THE FLASH / ARROW Universe Team-Up Series

While there had been rumblings of another DC Universe show coming to the CW, maybe the Atom or Firestorm, nobody thought it would be something as ambitious as this. It appears that not one, but several DC Comics superheroes are going to be uniting in a potential new action/drama series at the CW, a spin-off from both Arrow and The Flash that will feature several recurring actors/characters from both shows. Who saw that coming?

The CW is teaming with Arrow creators Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim for a project being looked at for next season starring Brandon Routh, Victor Garber, Wentworth Miller, and Caity Lotz. Fans of the respective shows they’re from know that means a show featuring the Atom, Firestorm, Captain Cold and (SPOILERS) the first Black Canary, back from the dead? Additionally, three other as-yet unnamed DC characters, none of which reportedly have appeared before in live-action, are set to star in the show as well. Start your guessing now, DC geeks!

The Flash 2

The show doesn’t have a title yet, although all of those characters have been members of the Justice League in the comics (yes, even Captain Cold). Obviously, the name Justice League has been reserved for the movies, but what else can they call it? Titans is going to be taken soon. And they’re all too old to be called Young Justice. Other characters from both The Flash and Arrow are expected to show up as well. There is a possibility that this could go straight to series and skip the pilot stage, possibly as early as next year’s mid-season.

So what do you think, DC fans? Got any ideas of who those three mystery DC characters could be? Let us know in the comments below!

Okay, crazy theory. Also, comics spoilers ahead. You’ve been warned.
In the Flashpoint Paradox, Barry Allen finds himself powerless in a strange world. A world where is mother is still alive. It is revealed by the Reverse-Flash that he and the Flash traveled back in time. Reverse-Flash to kill Barry’s mom, the Flash to save her.
He succeeds and Barry finds himself in a new dimension. But that’s besides the point. If they do something similar to the plot line of Flashpoint Paradox in the show, it might be that the repercussions of that event might lead to Canary having never died.
Also, it’s likely that the Arrow won’t reset continuity, they will just minimize the existence of meta-humans as they do – which is fine because I love it as it is.
Lastly, current Justice Society members in the dctvu: Firestorm, Wildcat. It may be that they’re doing an Earth-2 type universe

  2. tom says:

Kinda hope they make this like a mid season only show. Something to show up against something like agent carter.  Just a few plot driven episodes. Keep it close to lore and not to baddie of the week

  3. si says:

    Bring in Doctor Who. LOL

  4. Shayde says:

I smell a Lazurus pit in Sara’s future.
    My bet is the Outsiders.

  5. ed says:

Looks to me that DC’s doubling down on tv superheroes with this series, having ARROW, FLASH, GOTHAM, SUPERGIRL on the small screens… which is gambling on their part, just in case those movies should fail? With different/cheaper actors in the tv shows than in those planned films. Good that WB owns the CW network to air this ‘Atom &’ show, just like DISNEY owns ABC and Marvel to air AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. and AGENT CARTER.

What’s sad for the DC fan in me is that we’ll have the new, tv-revised versions of the Atomverse characters in this one, like we’ve seen the new DCU versions of characters in ARROW (an UnBatman show, adapting Bats’ classic stories instead of Oliver Queen’s own), GOTHAM (the pre-Batman show, introducing characters unseen/unheard of in the Batcomics, and prequel versions of others), and FLASH (the one I actually enjoy watching, though there are signs of ‘Smallville’-ing the lovestory and the mystery). Here’s to SUPERGIRL and this show being good! And tv viewers will be exposed to THESE versions instead of what was there in the comics for decades– and they’ll see them as the ‘real’ versions. What’s sadder for the Comics fan in me is that the DC fanboys and fangirls will defend these shows because they’re the only way they’ll see these characters. Well, some of those (newer?) DCU fans…

/a DCU fan, not necessarily a WB one

  6. Okayplus says:

I concur, Outsiders is my guess. We’ve seen Katana in Arrow as well. Wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility to see Metamorpho in Flash given the super-science tone of the show.

  7. jellymoff says:

Wasn’t Ralph Dinby mentioned as one that was impacted by the particle accelerator on The Flash?

  8. meg says:

STATIC SHOCKI don’t actually know or care, but I would start watching a show with a live-action static shock immediately.

  9. Matty-O402 says:

I think they may call it Justice League United. I also am going to say the characters they bring in are going to be Stargirl, Animal Man and possibly Adam Strange. The last guess is a long shot but definitely think the first two are strong options.

  10. tony says:

gotta be justice society to differentiate between the movies and the whole lack of bats and supes would make since for justice society , especially since it seems their forming the legion of doom to be their adversaries

  11. gary says:

Power Company.  Maybe the remaining 3 are from PC, but that might be an interesting twist on a Superhero team.  In Power Company, each member is like they’re part of a law firm.  They have “clients”, but they can also work together on larger problems.  It takes the form of a procedural (the Law Procedural), but it gives it the backdrop of superheroes to make it flashy.  It is “The Good Wife” meets “HEROES”…and that’s a demographic they probably want to reach.

  12. Starfire says:

I’ll go with OUTSIDERS, especially if Arsenal becomes a reg on the show.

    • LaureN says:

He’s also not leaving Arrow as he’s central to the Arrowverse in the comics. It’s amazing how many people on here know absolutely nothing about the stories behind these shows and don’t know how to google information:

  13. Kellen says:

    Yes, that is… The Question.

  14. John Stewart aka John diggel green Lantern

    • Lauren says:

He’s not leaving Arrow and it’s been confirmed that he’s not the Green Lantern. Does anyone on here know how to use google?

  15. Geon says:

Can you say “justice society” earth 2, have a huge cross over with the movies and do crisis on infinite earths…

  16. Ryan says:

    Justice Society.

  17. sheriff_of_baddies says:

    The Outsiders.

  18. Chris says:

It seems like a prequel. Sarah before she is dead, Stein before F.I.R.E.S.T.O.R.M., and possibly Palmer before his wife was killed. That said, my guess for the three unnamed characters are Nightwing, Static, and Vixen.

  19. Dustin says:

    Justice Society of America

  20. That Guy says:

Perhaps a “what if” scenario showing an alternate timeline caused by the “Flashpoint” storyline…?

  21. BeaN says:

    Maybe an Outsiders show?

  22. larry says:

Hmmm what three characters could it be gonna go out and a very thin limb and say Batman ,Superman, and Wonder Woman. Not an actual chance in hell but I can dream damn it

  23. Jeremy says:

Victor Garber and Wentworth Miller…. but not Robby Amell? That’s either a bit of a typo, or a red-flag that this is BS. I hope its the former.

    • Lauren says:

In the comics, Jason Todd, who they already introduced in the Firestorm plot, takes up with Ronnie Raymond as Firestorm. They have NOT confirmed Robbie Amell for this show and I don’t see him leaving the show as he’s Caitlin’s love interest.

  24. FlashPool says:

Here’s my theory: it’s a miniseries for Flashpoint between seasons. This would explain why a villain and a dead character are involved, also this would avoid The Flash messing with Arrow.

  25. chickenfries says:

Justice incorporated (Justice Inc. For short)

  26. Grant says:

A twist on “Seven Soilder of Victory”? (Green Arrows original team)

  27. Jake says:

Justice Society featuring Doctor Fate and Wildcat!!

    • Peter says:

Doctor Fate’s helmet appeared in Constantine. That would be a weird way to sabe the character, but might be fun, I’d see that. (Anyway not counting on it). Doc Fate also already appeared in live action TV, in Smallville. Probably nothing alien, as it doesn’t really fit the world built, so my first guess of Blue Beetle is out.  guess would be Cyborg, Elongated man (or plastic man) and Zatanna.

      • James says:

You could have the original Blue Beetle though (Ted Kord) as he is Green Arrow/Batman style superhero (aka normal human but with lots of money)

      • blast says:

Please god let it be plastic man. That kind of camp would stand out in such a fantastic way in the CW DCCU.

      • Kelly says:

Cyborg and Zatanna both also appeared on Smallville…

        • Lauren says:

So did the Green Arrow. And we all know he has his own show that’s thriving. Just because Smallville did something years ago doesn’t mean it can’t be done now & much better.

      • Lauren says:

Wildcat was cast in another show, hence him leaving Arrow much earlier than expected.

  28. Tausif Khan says:

I have thought that Caity Lotz  and Sarah as Black Canary was at times a better hero and leader than Stephen Amell and Oliver Queen as Arrow. I was more sure of her skills and training. I felt safer with her as a hero than the Arrow.

  29. JeffCG says:

Super Friends? World’s Finest is usually reserved for Supes and Batman.

  30. Troy says:

    Brave and the Bold?

  31. stahscream says:

I’m kinda confused though. First off, the obvious, how is the first Canary back? Also, if it’s actually Firestorm, where’s Robbie Amell?  I’m all for more superhero stuff on TV, but the members of this are a bit odd to pair up together.

    • Robert says:

They can use the Lazarus pit to bring the first Canary back.  The writer of the article forgot to mention Robbie Amell. It should be called Justice Society.

      • stahscream says:

They used jason in the Flash and i dont see that character as being part of the matrix. they used did the name drop and used the character to push forward caitlin finding out about the firestorm project.
as for lazarus pit (and of course this can be changed w/ the tv version) i thought it’s not supposed to work on people that have been dead a while, only recently deceased or close. she’s been buried for months now right? it would take away from all the emotional build-up between the characters and totally negate the current arc if they just brought her back.

    • Zach says:

Maybe they’ll do the Jason Rusch version of Firestorm, and they could bring the OG canary back in the Lazarus Pit

    • therocco says:

It will be a Booster Gold/Time Masters show and will focus on time travel within the DCU, hence the previous Black Canary being a part of it even though she is dead in the present.
At least that is what I am hoping for 🙂
