To (loosely) quote Damon Lindelof on Nerdist Podcast No. 85, if George Lucas never existed, he probably wouldn’t be doing the same kind of work (producing Lost , Star Trek films and all that). Most of us nerds feel some high level of compassion and/or misplaced lust for Lucas, who created ostensibly the epitome of the nerd franchise.

One of the most amazing things about Star Wars is that even though the original was released in 1977, and Mark Harmon is probably more famous than Mark Hamill these days, the legacy of the films endures — right down to a bunch of cute children in Anaheim making a documentary about how they mounted a live musical version of The Empire Strikes Back . (The shooting’s done, and they’re now going into post-production.  They’ve raised enough money on Kickstarter to get this done, but they’re now shooting for $10,000 by Monday, if you’re inclined to help them out)
