Chilling New CRIMSON PEAK Trailer and Images Channel Classic Horror

Boy oh boy oh boy. I’ve been lamenting the lack of classic horror film for ages, and it looks like we’re finally going there with Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming Crimson Peak. Don’t get me wrong, I love almost all manner of horror, but there’s something about a haunted house, a chilling ghost story, and old school-style suspense that gets me every time. This morning, Legendary Pictures released the full theatrical trailer for del Toro’s latest, and it is chock-full of spirits, spectres, and twists and turns ‘round every corner.

This trailer builds upon what we already know from the first few teasers and plot descriptions: Aspiring young author Edith Cushing (Mia Wasikowska) falls for a mysterious stranger, Sir Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston), and joins him and his sister Lady Lucille (Jessica Chastain) in their macabre, crumbling mansion. But of course, as soon as she enters the house, things begin to go awry. Edith is forbidden from entering certain parts of the house and eventually discovers that the creepy abode is itself “a living thing” — full of memories and moments, violent deaths and ghostly ghouls hiding in the dark. From he looks of this full trailer, the two raven-haired siblings are MUCH more than they seem.

Peppered with smoky figures, hidden clues, dastardly deeds, and pools brimming with blood, this Crimson Peak trailer evokes some seriously gorgeous imagery reminiscent of The Shining or Bram Stoker’s Dracula (say what you want about that movie, it is BEAUTIFUL). And let’s not forget the set pieces and costumes – Guillermo del Toro’s attention to detail and design is unparalleled, and it looks like he’s pulling out all the stops for this one.

A gothic supernatural mystery starring Stoker’s captivating Mia Wasikowska, the darkly charming Tom Hiddleston, and supremely talented chameleon Jessica Chastain? By Guillermo del Toro?? Guys, this movie was tailor made for me. In fact, are you working on a sequel yet? I’m happy to don some Victorian garb and splash around in some blood as an extra. Let me know.

But what you do you think? Are you titivated by all the bewitching phantoms in this theatrical trailer? Let us know in the comments below.

Crimson Peak comes out in theaters October 16, 2015.
