If you’re anything like us, you’ve started looking at the world in a different way since the premiere of USA Network’s incredibly satisfying and terrifying series Mr. Robot. The runaway hit from creator Sam Esmail took a world exhausted by its own inequalities by storm with its anarchistic dissatisfaction with the state of America today. But it also received raves for its attention to detail when it came to portraying hacking on screen. So just how authentically plausible is the hack that took down E-Corp?
That’s the question Mr. Robot Decodedâofficially titled Mr. Robot_dec0d3d.doc because the series is nothing if not consistentâhopes to answer when it premieres on Monday, June 20 at 11:05PM EST. And we’ve got a sweet, sweet exclusive first look at what experts think the real scope of such a hack would be in the real world. Experts like hacker Jeff Moss (aka “The Dark Tangent”), writer and technical consultant Kor Adana, security expert Ryan Kazanciyan, Flashpoint’s chief scientist Lance James, author Fred Kaplan, network security expert Peiter C. Zatko, and even actor Zachary Levi.
Short answer? You could definitely do a lot of the damage Elliot and F Society managed in season one. Could it totally and completely take down the whole economic system? And could a hacker actually hack in the name of the greater good? Well! You’ll have to just tune in and see about all that. Motivation is everything, friends.
Needless to say, it’s all getting us mighty amped for the second season premiere of Mr. Robot, slated to come ’round our way on USA on Wednesday, July 13 at 10pm.  Are you looking forward to it? Let us know in the comments below.
