Could Kylo Ren Lift Thor’s Hammer?

You know those nerdy questions that keep you up at night? Those that mash together fandoms and pit heroes against each other based on their respective universes? Well for this week’s episode, that’s exactly the kind of question we’re tackling. Could Kylo Ren lift Thor’s hammer?

In my latest Because Science, I’m finally getting around to answering a question sent in and supported by dozens of people on Twitter. YouTuber D-piddy wanted to know if his GIF could actually happen, and I think I have a pretty good answer that surely won’t anger any nerds at all.

The gist is this: We know that Thor’s hammer has some kind of worthiness detector, and that it can change its weight to prevent being picked up. We can also guess that Kylo Ren is probably not worthy, you know, because of the whole…dad thing. That leaves it up to the Force. If Kylo isn’t touching the hammer, and not trying to wield it, that might make all the difference. So, what is the Force, really, and could Kylo use it to lift Thor’s hammer?
