Conan O’Brien’s “Clueless Gamer” Might Be Spun-Off Into Its Own TV Show

The “Clueless Gamer” segments on Conan have turned into a big hit, becoming a highlight of the broadcast and raking in millions of views on YouTube, because how could it not? It’s got O’Brien, celebrity guests, and hotly anticipated video games, all working together in a sort of harmony that’s as contentious as it is functional. O’Brien doesn’t necessarily “get” video games, but it’s still fun as hell to watch him (often not) figure it out, so much so that it looks like the segment may be spun off into its own television series (via Kotaku).

The Hollywood Reporterreports… that the series, which is still in development but “is considered likely to go to series,” will be executive produced by O’Brien, but not hosted by him. No host, or an episode count, has been announced yet, but it does appear that the show based on the segment that’s been a Conan regular feature since 2012 will in fact happen on TBS.

TBS president Kevin Reilly told the publication:

“We’re going into production next month on a new series, Clueless Gamer, based on the viral video [Conan O’Brien has] done where he essentially makes fun of video games, gets celebrities to play and makes commentary on them. We’ve gotten to the point where video game companies are sending us their new product for us to play and make fun of because it’s been such a huge success. We’re going to go into production on a series of that.”

This news comes very shortly after it was announced that Conan would likely make the shift to a weekly format at some point in the future; Producer Jeff Ross recently told IndieWire, ““It certainly won’t happen in 2017, whatever change may or may not happen. As far as when the talks heat up, who knows… We’re busy and have a lot of stuff going on. It takes time and energy, figuring out how to keep things going while growing all these things at the same time.”

While we wait to see how these changes will shake out, revisit a bunch of your favorite Clueless Gamer segments below.
