A Computer Program Wrote a Fake Honest Trailer and It’s Amazing

From the YouTube channel that brought you short but insightful film criticism framed as comedic videos, comes a trailer for a movie that doesn’t exist, but that you’ll wish did. Honest Trailers just got it’s very own Honest Trailer, written by a computer program that studied every other Honest Trailer, and it is totally insane. Honestly.

The team at Screen Junkies has been raising money with their Movie Fights Extravaganza to benefit Women In Film, and when fans hit $20,000 in donations they unlocked an Inception-style Honest Trailer to be written by a robot. “It’s like an Honest Trailer made out of every other Honest Trailer.” So they turned to Studio Botnik, which was also responsible for that bonkers fake Harry Potter book we were obsessed with, but this computer program written video doesn’t just nail the rhythm, cadence, humor, style, and tropes of a normal Honest Trailer, it describes a fake movie that would be the craziest, most epic film ever made.

Okay, someone sign up legendary director Mike Potions for a three-film deal covering The Irresponsible Englishman, The Brave Little Lawyer, and Ancestors of the Future.

We love every insane idea described from this movie (Why is Wolverine sitting so much? Why does Yoda want to fight Dennis the Menace? Why is Shrek playing on every TV?), which is why we’re bummed out this AI program doesn’t have a literary agent to sell this imaginary screenplay.

Honestly, how can you not get excited for something “loved by sarcastic children and hated by the crying nerd”?

Which insane part of this trailer would you most want to see in a real movie? Tell us in the comments below.
