Superman and Green Lantern meet their pre-New 52 counterparts next March
With DC Comics’ March 2016 solicitations recently revealed, the publisher previewed many of the DC titles released under the New 52 banner in 2011 reaching their milestone 50th issues. And now DC has revealed something of a special event planned for two of the titles hitting the big five-oh. In Superman #50, the current Superman meets his pre-Flashpoint counterpart who survived the events of Convergence, and has been living on the new DC Earth in secret in the pages of Superman: Lois and Clark, all clad in black costume and sporting a beard.
Also meeting their pre-New 52 counterpart is Green Lantern Hal Jordan, when Parallax shows up to confront his younger/other self in Green Lantern #50. Will the DC Universe learn there have been doppelgangers of their biggest heroes just hanging out the DCU all along, just watching? We’ll find out next March. DC reveals details on new Supergirl digital first comic
After an Amazon.com leak revealed that a collection was coming next summer, DC Comics has formally announced Adventures of Supergirl, a Digital First comic set in the Supergirl TV series continuity. Former pre-New 52 Supergirl author Sterling Gates will be the series writer, and Bengal provides art for the first three chapters. He’s set to be followed by a rotating roster of artists, including Jonboy Meyers, Emanuela Lupacchino, and Emma Vieceli.
The book debuts January 25, 2016, and is scheduled to run for 13 chapters, which will be later collected in a full-length graphic novel. At least as of right now, there are no plans to print the series in single issue format, as has been the case with previous Digital First books like Sensation Comics and Batman ’66. Hopefully this means a new series featuring the main DCU version of the Girl of Steel isn’t too far behind? Make it happen, DC! Â [IGN]
Marvel Celebrates “Women of Power” month in March
Speaking of powerful women, the folks over at Marvel will be celebrating Womenâs History Month in March 2016 with a series of themed covers, which they’re calling the “Women of Power” variant series. They’ve only released a series of four images so far, with covers featuring Spider-Gwen, Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, and Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. No doubt more will be revealed soon.
Luckily, a lot of the artists involved with this set of covers are also women, artists like Sara Pichelli, Annie Wu, and Erica Henderson, so there won’t likely be a repeat of that infamous Spider-Woman cover. You can check out the first four Women of Power variants in our gallery below, and for the complete list of covers and who will be illustrating them, click on the following link: [Comics Alliance]
