UPDATE: Comedy Central tells Nerdist that it has only received a pilot from Hannibal Buress and, contrary to Hannibal’s tweet below, has yet to make a decision on whether to order it as a series.
Just hours ago, Hannibal Buress tweeted out this:
I’m happy to announce that Comedy Central just picked up my series Unemployable for 10 episodes
â Hannibal Buress (@hannibalburess) March 14, 2014
With this, Comedy Central is reaping the benefits of signing a major deal with Buress a year ago that promised a role on a hit show, Broad City, a new one-hour stand-up special, and a pilot commitment, which now has a greenlight from Comedy Central brass.
If you’ve followed Hannibal for awhile, you might know that he was homeless for a period of his life and, given the title, it would seem logical that Unemployable, at the very least, will be inspired in part by some crazy sh*t that happened to Hannibal around that time. More details should become available soon. Either way, it’s a great news for all, especially if you’ve seen Hannibal crush every second of his role on Broad City, even doing something like mind kegels.
Wow I am really happy because I am a huge fan of Hannibal.
This couldn’t have happened to a better comedian.
Time get some ballerinas and some pickle juice.
Yes! This guy is part of the reason why I started doing open mics!
Such great news! I can’t wait!
rarely has the success of a complete stranger filled me with such satisfaction and joy. Hannibal is one of my favorite people in comedy. he definitely deserves this.
So happy for hannibal. I absolutey love him, not in a gay way because I’m totaly straight,… but maybe.
