As you may have noted, Scott Aukerman and his Comedy Bang! Bang! podcast (and live shows at UCB) are among the favorites around here. Chris, Jonah, and Matt have been among the many guests, real and fake (“Cake Boss!“), featured on the show. So we’re happy to hear that there’s going to be a Comedy Bang Bang TV series coming to IFC in June.
The TV edition is described by the network press release as “a sketch variety show featuring celebrity guests, comedy sketches, and animation,” and it will be hosted, naturally, by Scott with Reggie Watts providing the music, and it doesn’t get much better than that. They’ve ordered 10 half-hour episodes, along with a game show parody called Bunk, and the two join Portlandia and the final season of The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret on IFC, which is building quite a comedy presence. (You may have already seen Comedy Bang Bang interstitials on the network on Monday and Tuesday nights)
Congratulations to Scott, Reggie, and everyone over there. The podcast invasion of television continues….
Love Aukerman on DLM, am finally caught up on that – Now TWO AND A HALF YEARS of CDR/CBB to catch up on? I’m thrilled and exhausted at the same time! Cake Boss!!
Scott Tabletop!
Not everything is for everyone, Bill.
How tall is Aukerman? This photo makes him look quite lanky.
Very excited about the show. It’ll be great.
BTW–Bob Ducca = Seth Morris. Super funny guy. I saw him most recently as Doctor Tug Spano on Children’s Hospital, but he’s around a lot. Does a few voices on CBB, though I love him as Ducca, too. Sorry if I destroyed the mystery, but the man deserves his credit.
I’m not sure I would like to look at Little Gary. He looks like food.
The show can be absolutely hysterical, but it has the worst name of anything ever (seriously, Comedy Bang Bang?). And Aukerman is a great facilitator, but the Hot Saucerman and What’s Up Hot Dog stuff, I sometimes wonder if he’s actually trying to be annoying, because he succeeds wildly with his cutesy phrases and puns. If you can’t tell, I have mixed feelings about this podcast.
Jeremy Pi~ven! Jeremy Pi~ven!
I love this podcast nearly as much as my son. My own flesh and blood. I can’t wait to watch the show. It’s going to be a part of the lineup it deserves. Look at those shows IFC is airing!
I am so proud of Hot Saucerman and I don’t even know the guy. Or should i say he doesn’t know me 😉
Yes… <— Napoleon Dynamite
I love Comedy Bang Bang. I’m just really bad at telling who anybody is, unless it’s Tom Lennon.
I’m not even sure who Bob Ducca is, and I think I like it better that way.
I am so happy for Scott and the whole CBB gang.
After listening to podcasts for the last 2 years and I so glad that the rest of the world is picking up on these guys appeal.
Doug Benson got started doing the Benson Interruption
Marc Maron did a WTF inspired pilot.
Of course, the Nerdist is now on BBC.
Now Comedy Bang Bang is on IFC.
Obviously I have great taste. And also these are all talented folks.
Yo soy un bebè. It’s a baby!
Bring out the GIRLS!
SO excited!! Im hoping for some Bobby Bottleservice. THANK YOU-very cool
Love this show so dearly. Can’t wait to see how it does on TV! Scott Aukerman is the facilitator of amazing gags.
He also does a killer John C. Reilly and Ice Cube. For the longest while, I had no idea who did those, because they were so good.
God damn, Paul F Tompkins is amazing.
@TonyW: As Sauze noted, Cake Boss (and many others, like Andrew Lloyd Webber and… well, listen to the Tompkast, too) is indeed Paul F. The “many guests, real and fake” included Chris/Matt/Jonah but not exclusively. I threw “Cake Boss!” in because when Paul F. does the voice on CBB, it always makes me laugh. All of his voices do. I’m not sure he ISN’T John Lithgow…
WHAT’S UP HOT DOG
CAKEBOSS!
Cake Boss is Paul F of course !
Wait, wait, wait… are you telling me that one of you guys is Cake Boss?!!
EXCITMENT! i love comedy bang bang!!!
