GOOSEBUMPS Clip Introduces Us to a Very Creepy R.L. Stine

What kind of man spends his time thinking up ways to terrify others? What kind of man devotes his life to creating devilish monsters whose purpose is to scare children? Well, thanks to this new clip from the upcoming Goosebumps movie, we know a little bit more about the (fictionalized) answer to those questions.

In the clip, we see Jack Black as Goosebumps author R.L. Stine, explaining why he created his literary monsters in the first place, and though he can’t explain why they’ve become real, he does know how to contain them.

“When I was younger I created my own friends, monsters, demons, to terrorize my neighborhood and all the kids that made fun of me. And they became real to me. And then one day they actually…became…real.”

The scene follows the escape of R.L. Stine’s monster from his book The Abominable Snowman of Pasadena, and rather than show fear or worry about his creations coming to life and trying to eat his young neighbors, our favorite childhood horror writer seems to take a little too much glee in the situation, delivering these lines with a smirk that is far too pleased with itself.

“My monsters literally leapt off the page. As long the books remain locked or safe, but when they open…well, you’ve just seen what happens.”

The movie opens in time for Halloween, October 16th, because we can all use a creepy Jack Black to help us celebrate our favorite holiday.

What monsters are you most excited to see come to life from the Goosebumps novels? Don’t be afraid; tell us in the comments section.
