A Classic CLERKS Scene Is Recreated by HBO’s ANIMALS Team

Closing the store in the middle of the day to play street hockey on the roof? Destroying merchandise while fighting your friend in the aisles? Spending all day dealing with personal issues while on the clock? Randal was right, a monkey could do Dante’s job at the convenience store. Which is why it’s only fitting we recreated one of the best scenes from Clerks with the creators of HBO’s Animals.

Phil Matarese and Mike Luciano, the minds and voices behind the hilarious animated series following the mundane lives of animals, joined host Rob Paulsen on the latest episode of Talkin’ Toons. The three read the classic scene from Clerks when Randal and Dante debated the ethics of the Rebels blowing up an unfinished Death Star full of independent contractors in Return of the Jedi, and while we definitely didn’t expect Christopher Walken to show up during the conversation, we’re very glad he did this time around.

Animals can somehow make even the most inconsequential, most unimportant, most absurd conversation ever sound even dumber, which is why we love the show.

To check out the rest of Rob’s interview with Phil and Mike, head to our online Alpha community, the only place to find full episodes of Talkin’ Toons. We have tons of other great shows there for you to check out, and your first 30 days are free for new members. You’d have to be an animal to turn down an offer like that.

What would be the best, totally trivial movie scene to recreate with the cast of Animals? Blow up our comments section below with your best ideas.
