We are huge fans of CineFix and their 8-Bit Cinema series. For the series’ Halloween entry this year, CineFix turned their attention to the 1992 chapter in Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead series, Army of Darkness. The fantasy/horror/comedy film is a cult classic among genre fans, and helped solidify Bruce Campbell as a B-movie superstar.
The video does a pretty good job of taking viewers through the major beats of the original film, as well as delivering the most memorable, and often-quoted, lines from Campbell’s Ash Williams. This truly looks like a game I would have wanted to play back in the days of the original Nintendo Entertainment System, and I am now sad that it never was.
The video could not have come at a better time, seeing as the Evil Dead adventures of Ash will be continuing in a television series on Starz, Ash vs Evil Dead. You may have heard of it. Well, it will be premiering this Saturday on Halloween, and this video is the Halloween special for 8-Bit Cinema. If I was a detective I’d suspect some sort of connection between those two facts.
