Check Out The First 7 Minutes Of FX’s FARGO

In 11 days, FX will premiere its mini-series adaptation of the Coen Brothers classic, Fargo. While not really following down the same path as the film in terms of plot, the series will feature that classic Coen Brothers style with extremely personality-driven characters and oddball tone. That fact is proven in the first seven minutes of the series premiere released this week by the network:

There is perhaps no better way to establish the ways in which our two lead characters, Lorne Malvo (Billy Bob Thornton) and Lester Nygaard (Martin Freeman), are complete opposites of each other. One drives through the night with a man in his trunk and hits a deer, the other is working a dead-end job while trying to support his wife who thinks she could have done better for herself. Writer Noah Hawley has stated in the past that Fargo is about what happens when a civilized man meets an uncivilized one, and that seems to be the case if these first seven minutes have anything to say about it.

Fargo premieres April 15th on FX.
