Check Out MOANA’s Action-Packed International Trailer, and More Movie News

Happy Friday, Morselers! For many of us in the U.S., this first weekend of autumn is an unseasonably warm one. But today’s Movie Morsels has plenty of coolness for you, including a brand-new international trailer for Disney’s upcoming animated epic Moana, the latest set videos from Transformers: The Last Knight, a hilarious trailer for Charlie Day and Ice Cube’s Fist Fight, art from Duncan Jones’ Mute, and more!

Moana

Heads up, Disney fans! Last week the Mouse House unveiled the first trailer for Moana, its new fantasy epic about a young woman partnered with a demigod (voiced by Dwayne Johnson) on a quest to save her people from annihilation. Now we have the film’s international trailer, and it’s got brand-new footage from this November 23 release. Check it out below for more of Moana herself in battle and more of the deceptively adorable Kakamora, a gang of coconut-armored sea pirates that I’m guessing will be the movie’s true breakout stars. No, the trailer’s not in English, but since when have directors Jon Musker and Ron Clements (of The Little Mermaid and Aladdin fame) relied on language alone to sell a great gag? Of course Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda’s music makes all of this that much more entertaining. Enjoy!

Transformers: The Last Knight

Autobots, roll out! The steady stream of videos from the set of Michael Bay’s Transformers: The Last Knight continues. Our two latest videos from the film feature Sir Anthony Hopkins (who joins the franchise with this installment), the cutest little dog ever to star in a movie about giant robots turning into cars, and—for the gearheads among you—some fresh behind-the-scenes footage of those sweet cars themselves…

Fist Fight

Forget Tyson versus Holmes! Forget Ali versus Frazier! And for God’s sake don’t even bother mentioning Ali versus Superman… No, the greatest mano-a-mano of all time will be Ice Cube versus Charlie Day! The battle royale you never thought you’d live to see, or, more appropriately, didn’t know you wanted to see, will take place in Fist Fight, in which Cube and Day play two school teachers who carry their feud just a little too far. The hilarious Jillian Bell and Tracy Morgan (in his first feature film role since his auto accident in 2014) lend support, as does Mad Men‘s Christina Hendricks. The comedy’s first punch is thrown in this trailer…

Mute

Whether you loved or hated his Warcraft adaptation, those of us who admire Duncan Jones’ first two feature films—Moon and Source Code—know that if there’s one thing the director can do as well as anyone these days, it’s tell a science-fiction story with plenty of heart. So I’m friggin’ thrilled to learn that Jones will start production on his next SF film, his long-developing Mute, next week. To celebrate the occasion, Jones has shared some concept art from Mute via Twitter. In a separate tweet, he confirmed that it will indeed have a connection to his much acclaimed Moon

It’s worth noting that, like Moon, Mute will star Sam Rockwell, joined this time by Paul Rudd and Alexander Skarsgard. Set 40 years in the future in Berlin, the film features Skarsgard in the title role of a mute bartender, looking for a lost love with the help of two American surgeons. Surrealism will no doubt ensue.

Trespass Against Us

Michael Fassbender ain’t just talented and good-looking; he’s also fast becoming the hardest working actor in movies. He’s just completed work on no fewer than four big upcoming films: Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant, Terrence Malick’s Weightless, Tomas Alfredson’s The Snowman, and, of course, the video game adaptation Assassin’s Creed. But before any of those flicks hit theaters, we’ll have the chance to see Fassbender star alongside Harry Potter‘s Brendan Gleeson in Doctor Who director Adam Smith’s gritty family crime drama Trespass Against Us. Fassy could make the ingredients listed on a soup can label sound interesting as hell. So I fully expect him to do wonders with this material, a taste of which is given in the following trailer…

Power Rangers

Power Rangers

Last but not least for this week… In case you missed it yesterday, we reported that the Power Rangers reboot has signed one of America’s hottest comic actors (and mega genre fan), Saturday Night Live and Trainwreck star Bill Hader, as Alpha 5. As longtime fans of the Rangers know, Alpha 5 is the team’s robot assistant. And since Hader was a voice consultant on Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ droid BB-8, it’s safe to say that he’s perfectly suited to playing any A.I. Or, to paraphrase Alpha 5 himself, “A.I.-yi-yi!”
