Chatting ASSASSIN’S CREED: UNITY With Alexandre Amancio

“Another year, another Assassin’s Creed,” said one of my close friends last year around this time. He had obviously become quite exhausted of the franchise, and I couldn’t blame him: following the release of Assassin’s Creed II, it felt like the yearly installments of the game were beginning to diminish in quality with every release. Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood seemed a bit forced, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations was probably the most forgettable title of the series, and Assassin’s Creed III struggled to deliver an experience that was as captivating as its core mechanics. Something needed to be done soon to uphold the high standard of action/adventure gameplay that the second game set, or else many would be writing off the series as yesterday’s flame.

Then Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag came along, introducing a plethora of new elements, a robust open world, and an overall new direction for the franchise. This game not only brought the Assassin’s Creed series back to prominence, but it set a precedent for the future of the AC games. A future that has arrived now, with Assassin’s Creed: Unity just a little under a month away.

Last week, I had the opportunity to sit down with the game’s creative director Alexandre Amancio for a chat about what’s to come when the game releases this November. Take a look in the video above.

I really hate the changes they made to the combat. Also I’ve always preferred single player experience and it sounds like that if you don’t play co-op then you won’t have access to certain things in the game. While I do like the character customization and new parkour mechanics. I won’t be playing this one.
