Paul Feig just keeps dropping fact after fact about his upcoming Ghostbusters movie, wherein Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones fight ghosts. He’s already tweeted out what the proton packs look like, what the uniforms look like, and what the Ecto-1 looks like, but apparently people need more — MORE I SAY!
So we know all of those things, but we don’t know who these characters are. I mean, we know that they’re Ghostbusters, but, like, what are their naaaaames?
The Twitter account NYC Ghostbusters compiled set photos of each of the actresses which reveal parts of their names on their uniforms and besought Mr. Feig to tell us their full names.
@paulfeig We've seen a lot, surely you don't want to give everything away, but can you share the #Ghostbusters names? pic.twitter.com/JR4vFx5I5Y

So, what’s a filmmaker to do when posed with such a request? I unno…tell everybody?
Feig’s response:
Okay, here you go. Erin Gilbert, Jillian Holtzmann, Abby Yates and Patty Tolan. Now you know even more. https://t.co/MsQVo5iStI

So, there you have it. McCarthy is playing Abby Yates, Wiig is playing Erin Gilbert, and I’m going to say McKinnon’s nametag doesn’t say “NY” but ends with “ANN,” meaning she’s Jillian Holtzman, meaning Jones is playing Patty Tolan. Neat, right? They’re just character names. Were we expecting Patricia Venkman? Winstonnia Zeddemore? Egonette Spengler? Nah, they’re names. Perfectly fine names.
What do you think of the character names of the new Ghostbusters? Were you expecting a naming miracle like apparently other people were? Let us know in the comments below, and check out our latest Ghostbusters-related episode of Nerdist News.
