Channing Tatum Looking at Doug Liman to Direct Gambit?

Last month, we reported that Rupert Wyatt had left the director’s chair of Gambit, the X-Men spin-off starring Channing Tatum. This was after Tatum was rumored to leave the project himself this past July. With reports like this, audience members have to wonder if they will ever see the card-carrying Cajun ever hit the big screen.

If this current rumor is true, X-Fans may end up receiving the Gambit movie they were always BOURNE to see. (Get it?) According to this tweet by The Wrap’s Jeff Sneider, Tatum, also a producer of the film, has been attempting to acquire the services of Doug Liman.

For those of you that may be unfamiliar with Liman’s name will definitely be familiar with his work. He introduced us to Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne in The Bourne Identity. He directed Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Last year, he directed Tom Cruise in what was arguably one of the best science fiction movies of the past few years, Edge of Tomorrow, later re-titled Live, Die, Repeat.

I for one feel his pedigree would definitely be a great fit for the X-Men universe. If Tatum is able to secure him, it’s for sure a step towards a great movie.

So what do you think? Do you feel that Doug Liman would be a good fit to become part of 20th Century Fox’s X-Men Universe? Let me know on Twitter or sound off in the comments below.
