Channing Tatum Joins Quentin Tarantino’s THE HATEFUL EIGHT

Yes, you read that right — Channing Tatum (the guy from this music video) has rounded out the cast of Quentin Tarantino’s latest film, The Hateful Eight. After years of gestating, script leaking, not-being-made-ing into this, the director’s epic post-Civil War Western has finalized its entire cast, with several folks making their Tarantino debut.

Tatum joins fellow newbies Demian Bichir — he of the recently cancelled but acclaimed The Bridge on FX and Oscar nominee for 2011’s A Better Life — and Walton Goggins alongside Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, and Bruce Dern. All of whom will travel to Telluride at the beginning of the new year to film the five-chaptered Wyoming-based Western.

According to those in the know — also known as Deadline — the film’s plot centers around the wild and winding travels of bounty hunter John “The Hangman” Ruth (Russell) and his fugitive Daisy Domergue (Leigh) as they head to the town of Red Rock in order to bring Domergue to justice. As the Wyoming winter overtakes them, they encounter the likes of Major Marquis Warren (Jackson) — a former Union soldier-turned-infamous bounty hunter — and Chris Mannix (Goggins), one of those Southern renegades turned town sheriff.

Seeking shelter from the storm, Ruth and Domergue happen upon a few folks they actually do know, though it stands to reason that they’re not all happy about the encounter. Including a few hangmen named Bob (Bichir) and Oswaldo Mobray (Roth), a cow-puncher — apparently a thing! — named Joe Gage (Madsen), and Confederate General Sanford Smithers (Dern).

The Weinstein Company hopes to release the film in 2015. What do you think of the cast? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
