Celebrate the WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER Blu-ray Release with Clips from the Live Radio Show

Today isn’t any old Tuesday. Today, thee 2001 summer camp spoof Wet Hot American Summer is finally available on Blu-ray! Yes, it took them long enough. It’s perfect timing considering the prequel, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day At Camp, is coming to Netflix as a limited series on July 17. You can watch the Blu-ray over and over again to make the summer days pass by in a flash, which might be easy to do since the Blu-ray is coming loaded with special features. It includes highlights from the film’s 10th anniversary event, deleted scenes, songs with production stills, a commentary track, and Wet Hot American Summer: Live at SF Sketchfest.

Nerdist Alliance member SF Sketchfest had most of the original cast join them (including Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, and Samm Levine) in January 2012 to perform Wet Hot American Summer: The Live Radio Show. It was done in the style of Thrilling Adventure Hour with a Foley artist and a band. Pop My Culture host Cole Stratton produced the event with David Owen and Janet Varney, and it features music from Jon Dinerstein and Paul and Storm and sound effects from Scott Iseri. The whole radio show is available on the Blu-ray, but you can get a taste for it with these clips from the event:

This makes me want to go back to summer camp. I feel like I missed out on all the good experiences.

Will you be making it your beeswax to get the Wet Hot American Summer on Blu-ray? Let us know in the comments.
