CBS’ STALKER From Kevin Williamson Gets Season Preview

We now have the first look at Stalker, the new psychological thriller starring Maggie Q and Dylan McDermott, from The Following and Scream‘s Kevin Williamson. The series will premiere on CBS this fall.

As reported by Cinemablend, CBS describes Stalker as a psychological thriller about detectives who investigate stalking incidents – including voyeurism, cyber harassment and romantic fixation – for the Threat Assessment Unit of the LAPD.”

Two things stood out to me from this first look clip: first of all, Maggie Q and Dylan McDermott. The two of them are major TV badasses and from this three and a half minute preview, I think it’s pretty obvious that they have some serious chemistry. Q is always cool and I think McDermott is at his best when he’s playing sleazy.

Secondly, I couldn’t help but notice all the themes of social media aiding stalking and voyeurism in the modern age that were present in this season one teaser. These themes allegedly played a major part in Williamson’s original script for Scream 4 and were rumored to have been diminished greatly by on-set rewrites performed by Scream 3 screenwriter Ehren Kruger. These rewrites were said to have caused tension on set when they were ordered by the Weinstein’s during production on the last film. Is it possible that some of Williamson’s left over ideas from Scream 4 were put to good use here?

We will find out when Stalker, the latest series from The Following‘s Kevin Williamson, starring Maggie Q and Dylan McDermott, airs Wednesdays at 9PM on CBS beginning this fall.
