Carry Your Favorite Fandom with These Handmade Geeky Purses

If I’m going to switch up an accessory to match an outfit, I’m more likely to swap out purses instead of shoes. I haven’t traditionally been into clutches or bags, but more and more fandom-inspired designs have been made available in recent years and I can’t resist. Mari Ruiz of Sent from Mars came to my attention through a post from Jordandené, and I’m all but drooling over her purse creations.

Mari works with faux leather to capture characters from pop culture in purse form. Her made to order designs zip along the top and can be worn as wristlets or long purses (she crafts shoulder bags as well). Look how glamorous she made this stormtrooper:

Imagine how it would look with a black dress. It might be the only Star Wars accessory you need.

What I adore most about these bags–from seeing the pictures, anyway–is the amount of detail Mari includes. She uses metal studs, shiny accent fabric, and crystals in such a way that it accents the nerdiness of the bags while creating a fashionable, everyday aesthetic. For example, I’m head over heels for the shade of green used in this Legend of Zelda Link design. It’s a little brighter than the fabric of his costume, but for this style of purse, it’s perfect because it pops. I’m picturing this with more or less every outfit I own:

*Jedi hand wave* You want to see more purse designs, so scroll to the gallery below. There’s a Han Solo design, a wicked and chic Bowser look, Hedwig from Harry Potter (she’s even carrying a letter!), and more. If you’re ready to commit to a particular style, visit the Sent from Mars shop on Etsy and find your new accessory.

Which design do you want the most? Let me know in the comments.
