Turns out it’s pretty easy to make Carl Sagan’s seminal science series COSMOS seem totally insane.

YouTuber Aliantos likes to take TV shows and re-edit them. The result is unnervingly trippy and weird. Sometimes he removes the music or adds video distortions, but the oddest re-edits come from Aliantos stabilizing or altering frames so that there is unbearable silence.

The treatment of Carl Sagan’s COSMOS episode about Mars is no different. It looks like a segment straight out of the minds of Tim and Eric:
