Of course, Marvel had a Rocket Raccoon and Groot takeover planned.
The publisher announced today that throughout the month of November, seemingly everyone’s favorite Guardians of the Galaxy pair would be featured in nearly two dozen variant covers for that month’s books. Not only that, but the publisher enlisted some genuinely interesting artists to help Rocket Raccoon and Groot recreate some classic comic covers.
Sex Criminals co-creator Chip Zdarsky lends his art to the cover of Avengers #38; the incredible Orc Stain creator James Stokoe re-imagines one of the greatest meetings of Thor and a toad of all time with Thor #2; Jim Steranko’s classic Incredible Hulk cover gets recreated with a ripped Rocket by Tom Fowler for Hulk #8; Fowler also lets us see Rocket’s “Demon in a Bottle” with his cover to Superior Iron Man #1.
Marvel released a preview of seven of the covers (included below). In all, 20 books in the month of November are getting Rocket and Groot variants, including quite a few number one issues making their debut this month. Of course, if you want one of these variants, you’re gonna have to head over to your local comic shop.
