Captain America Ramen Pop-Up Opens in Japan

In the battle between favorite heroes it’s hard to choose sides, but there’s only one way to settle it: with food. For Captain America: Civil War, Marvel teamed up with the ramen chain Ippudo in Tokyo, creating the ultimate Marvel ramen meal to battle it out for your allegiance.

Marvel fans can not only get their noodle on this weekend (May 13th and 14th), but they’re also be greeted by life-size Cap and Iron Man statues, and stacks of adorable Marvel Tsum Tsum decor.

This special Marvel ramen is available as a course meal for 4,500 yen ($42 US). For that price, you get your money’s worth with not one, but two kinds of ramen, so that you can really get the full experience of choosing sides in this noodle Civil War.

RocketNews24 was lucky enough to try this super supper and took a bunch of photos to document this once in a lifetime meal. Fans should not be disappointed, as not only do the serving bowls resemble the two heroes but the contents reflect the team members as well. Cap’s ramen contains komatsuna, Japanese mustard spinach, which is supposed to look similar to Clint Barton’s long arrows. Even tiny little specks of black pepper were added, meant to stand-in for Ant-Man, who’s a “big” part of Team Cap.

Meanwhile, Team Iron Man’s ramen cleverly uses a soft boiled egg as Tony’s arc reactor, a spun edible web to represent Spidey, and noodles made with carrot to resemble Black Widow’s hair. Well, I guess that’s better than adding spiders into the mix.

Weirdly, the Iron Man ramen also comes with a handful of Doritos right in the bowl. They say it’s a nod to Black Panther’s claws but I’m going with my fanfic of Vision’s love of guacamole.

If two bowls of ramen isn’t filling enough, the feast also comes with rice balls and pieces of stamped seaweed, a Super-Soldier Serum Soda, and crunchy “Winter Noodles.” Captain America panna cotta and a special Marvel/Ippudo crossover T-shirt round out the meal, and are the perfect ways to end a massive superhero food battle.

Such a spectacular meal is obviously going to be popular, and true to form, all 200 reserved meals are already booked for the weekend. Check out more images in the gallery below.

Which ramen do you choose in the Civil War of food? I’m Team Iron Man, always. Let us know your side in the comments!
