Buffy the Vampire Slayer Turns 17 Today!

As we all decompress from the season finale of HBO’s True Detective, let us not forget that 17 years ago today, Buffy The Vampire Slayer premiered on The WB in a back-to-back marathon of ‘Welcome to the Hellmouth’ and ‘The Harvest’. This revelation also makes our favorite slayer a senior in high school, and we all know how stressful that can be, especially when your town is located on a portal to the underworld.

It’s funny to think how in just two decades, Joss Whedon went from the guy running one of the biggest cult hits to every grace television to the grandmaster of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and director of the third highest grossing movie of all time. Just go to show, never count out the underdog.

Happy birthday, Buffy. We’ll plan something special for your 18th next year.

    #bunnies!

  2. Bucho says:

I really like the dream she is having in “surprise”. Drusilla kills Angel and the Music just gives me goosebumps.

  3. Bunny says:

No love for The Wish yet? Best episode of almost any television show. My personal favorite is Enemies from Season 3, but The Wish is bad ass all around.

  4. Steven says:

Restless and The Body are my two favorite episodes.

  5. Mark says:

I have nothing but love for “Conversations With Dead People”. Of course, “Hush” and “Once More With Feeling” have to be mentioned because they’re so damned good. “Hush” might be the single most scary episode of Buffy. “Once More With Feeling” is excellent because musicals are always excellent.

I know what three episodes I’m watching tonight!

  6. Phazedout says:

“Hush” suge a truly wonderful episode forcing the actors to emote silently, often the lack of words can be more telling and revealing than any quip ridden speech

  7. RenegadeTimelord says:

Hard to pick just one but I would have to say THE BODY is probably up there. Such a great ep, really showed the emotional range of Sarah aka Buffy and the rest if the cast. Very moving subject matter.

  8. Merph says:

Favorite of all time for me has to be “Zeppo” because it’s the best use of Xander’s character.

  9. Mr Jonny H says:

Innocence Part 2, The first appearance of Angelus…Which is also Joss Whedon’s all time fave Episode.

What’s great about that show is that I don’t have a fave character, they all stand out in their own individual ways…Angel was awesome too

    Miss it so much 🙁

I just had a Buffy marathon and watched the whole series. The greatest episodes of course are Hush and Once More With Feeling. I will always have Spike’s song stuck in my head!
