Bruce Campbell and Lucy Lawless Talk ASH VS. EVIL DEAD, XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS, and More

Hail to the king, baby. After Army of Darkness saw Ashley J. “Ash” Williams going medieval on some Deadite asses, fans of the Evil Dead had to wait 22 long years for the return of their favorite boomstick-wielding, iron-jawed hero.

Now, Bruce Campbell is suiting up once more to play the fan-favorite character in Ash vs. Evil Dead, a new TV series coming to Starz this Halloween. Not only is the series directed by Sam Raimi and co-produced by Evil Dead producer Robert Tapert, but it also stars another longtime Raimi favorite, Lucy Lawless, who plays the vengeful bounty hunter daughter of Professor Knowby. Based on the trailer that debuted during their SDCC panel this week, it looks like a bloody good time and a return to form for the series that we know and love.

On Saturday, I had the distinct pleasure of immersing myself in the world of Ash vs. Evil Dead when stars Bruce Campbell and Lucy Lawless sat down with me at the Nerdist Conival. In our wide-ranging discussion, we discussed returning to the weird world of Evil Dead, reuniting with Sam Raimi, and what new catchphrases we can expect to see. More importantly though, Lucy Lawless had some strong words regarding the possibility of making a Xena: Warrior Princess limited series.

If you don’t make that happen, cruel television gods, then I’ll be like Hercules here:

Ash vs. Evil Dead premieres on October 31st. Be sure to check out the rest of our Comic-Con coverage right here, and watch the full panel below!
