Brian K. Vaughan Signs 3 Year Deal with Legendary

Legendary Entertainment has signed a three-year deal with Brian K. Vaughan, the award-winning comic book creator and television and film writer. The deal will see Legendary adapt several of Vaughan’s creator-owned comics, as well as executive producing original projects developed by Vaughan for film, television, and non-traditional platforms.

“Through truly inspired storytelling, Brian has created immersive, compelling worlds that are devoured by fans worldwide,” Nick Pepper, President of Legendary Television Studios, said of the deal in a press release. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to work with Brian to bring his visions and extraordinary library of work to the screen.”

Vaughan is a New York Times-bestselling comic book author perhaps best known for his Harvey and Hugo Award-winning series Saga, which he created with artist Fiona Staples. He has also worked on comics like Paper Girls with Cliff Chiang, Ex Machina with Tony Harris, and Barrier with Marcos Martin. In addition to his comics, he has written for television on shows like Lost and Under the Dome, where he also served as co-showrunner for season one. He is currently executive producing the upcoming Y: The Last Man TV series for FX, based on his own popular post-apocalyptic comic book series.

“Legendary was instrumental in helping to revolutionize the way the world thought of ‘comic-book movies,’ so it’s a tremendous honor to work with them on adaptations of some of my and my talented collaborators’ past and current comics,” Vaughan said of the deal. “I’m looking forward to hopefully creating a few wholly original stories with them, as well.”
