Brewery Ommegang Announces Their Next GAME OF THRONES-Inspired Beer

Are you ready to enjoy another glass of Game of Thrones beer? Brewery Ommegang is keeping their line of Game of Thrones-inspired booze going with Valar Morghulis. You may have thought the High Valyrian phrase meant “All men must die,” but maybe it should be translated as “All men must drink.” Hey, drinking is sometimes the best way to handle all the bleak affairs we witness on the fantasy series.

Valar Morghulis is Ommegang’s fourth beer in the Thrones series, and it’s a dubbel ale. The Belgian brew is usually a rich and malty beer with some spicy characteristics. It’s not known for having an overly hoppy taste. Learning the type of beer is almost as fun as seeing the label design, and it looks like they’ve gone with a design featuring the coin of the faceless man:

Arya Stark obtained the coin and learned the phrase “Valar morghulis” from Jaqen H’ghar in the second season of the television series and in A Clash of Kings in A Song of Ice and Fire.

Previous Game of Thrones selections from Brewery Ommegang have included: Iron Throne – a blonde ale featuring the formidable seat of Westeros on the label, Take the Black – a sturdy stout with a weirwood heart tree on the label, and Fire and Blood – a red ale with three different labels showing off the dragons Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion. Each brew is a limited edition, and the only one still available is Fire and Blood. Use Ommegang’s store locator to track it down.

Valar Morghulis will be available in the fall. Will you be imbibing? Let us know in the comments.
