If there was one thing that disappointed people about the release of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, it was that it wasn’t released on PS4 and Xbox One when the game launched originally. While this sort of thing is common when transitioning between console generations, it didn’t stop people from wondering whether or not the title would get a next-gen upgrade. Well my fellow vault hunters, it looks like the wait is over and the day has come. 2k Games and Gearbox Software announced early this morning that Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will arrive on current gen systems in the Borderlands: The Handsome Collection on March 24, 2015.
Retailing at $60, the packaged titles will feature upgraded graphics and contain every bit of DLC released for both games. If that wasn’t enough, the developer also added four player split-screenâ which is a first for the franchise. You’ll be able to grab three other friends for some serious vault hunting madness in both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Presequel. Hooray for the return of couch multiplayer!
Gearbox also revealed that save data from both titles will transfer over if you’ve already started them on the PS3 or PS Vita. Thanks to cross-save functionality, you’ll be able to pick up where you left off. This is great for those of us who’ve spent hours and hours leveling up and want to continue the fun.
Also, if you consider yourself a die-hard Borderlands fan and are prepared for a pricey purchase, Gearbox and 2K are releasing a super limited Collector’s Edition called the Claptrap-in-a-Box Edition. At $399, you’ll be able to score a remote controlled Claptrap bot that works in conjunction with an iOS or Android app, 12 exclusive Vault Hunter lithographs, and a collectible steel case. If this is something you’re interested in, make sure to pre-order it as soon as possible because only 5,000 units will be released worldwide.
