Rami Malek Rocks as Freddie Mercury in Queen Biopic BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY’s First Trailer

There has never been a rock star quite like Freddie Mercury. Capturing everything that made him one of the most talented, charismatic, and captivating performers in history would be a monumental task for any actor worth his salt. But the first trailer for the biopic Bohemian Rhapsody shows Rami Malek is up to the task of filling the larger-than-life shoes of the late Queen frontman. Ditto his mustache.

This first teaser, full of the band’s most iconic hits, doesn’t reveal much in the way of plot (though it does touch upon the famous story of how the band had to fight to get the film’s titular song to air), but it does give us a montage of Mercury’s most famous looks throughout his career. Malek looks so much like the inimitable Queen lead singer it’s hard to tell them apart.

We love when any trailer uses a Queen song; when the entire trailer is a medley of their greatest hits, it’s impossible not to be excited for the film. As for the movie itself, it won’t all be sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll.

“The film traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound, their near-implosion as Mercury’s lifestyle spirals out of control, and their triumphant reunion on the eve of Live Aid, where Mercury, facing a life-threatening illness, leads the band in one of the greatest performances in the history of rock music.”

Freddie Mercury was one the greatest stars the world has ever known. Rami Malek might be one too after people see him—and that ‘stache—in this movie.

Bohemian Rhapsody, which also stars Lucy Boynton, Gwilym Lee, Ben Hardy, Joseph Mazzello, Aiden Gillen, Tom Hollander, and Mike Myers, has a scheduled tour date in theaters this fall on November 2.

What do you think of this first look? Does the movie look like it will rock you? Tell us why in the comments below.
