Bill Nye Somehow Makes Hologram Science Understandable with Emojis

When Bill Nye The Science Guy first started working with General Electric to teach science via emojis, I was skeptical. His video on evolution was fine, but the emojis themselves seemed a bit out of place. With his latest video above, I’ve changed my tune.

Holography or the science and practice of making holograms is way more complicated than you’d suspect. There are lasers and lenses and cameras involved, making everything from sci-fi-looking displays of Dragon Ball Z’s Goku to the shiny little stickers on your drivers license.

The emojis in the video above are actually quite useful in outlining how basic holograms work (with the  assistance of Nye’s trademark enthusiastic delivery). Maybe more scientific concepts should be textable.
