As you probably know, HBO has been on a roll lately with their comedy programming. The network already has a veritable “one-two punch” airing Veep and Silicon Valley back-to-back, and have also ordered dark comedy The Brink, starring Jack Black and Tim Robbins, to series. HBO is stacking this line-up even further, as they have just signed a deal with the one and only Bill Hader to develop his own series that Hader himself will also star in.
There are currently no details as to what the series what will be or who else will be involved in the project. Even with no other names attached, it would be hard to imagine that the series without plenty of talent (like Hader’s SNL former cast mates) or a wonderfully absurd premise. Who else would come up with a spot-on impression of Jabba the Hutt and a tauntaun just dying besides Hader?
For now, we can let our imaginations run wild with what Hader might come up with. Naturally, many of you might think that we’ll get to visit the clubs that Hader described as his most famous character, Stefon. Perhaps, Hader will reprise his character from Comedy Central’s Roast of James Franco, The President of Hollywood. Wouldn’t you want to see an entire series following a “be-tracksuited” Hader, perpetually wearing sunglasses, deciding the entire fate of Hollywood via roast jokes?Â
Whatever Hader comes up with, we’d be surprised if Hader only played a facsimile of himself.
